Privacy Policy

Last updated September 8, 2026

MotorcycleValuation.com (“we”, “us”) provides free motorcycle valuations and introduces you to motorcycle dealers who may want to buy your bike. This policy explains what we collect, what we do with it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to motorcyclevaluation.com and to email and text messages we send.

1. What we collect

Information you give us. When you request a value: your motorcycle's VIN or make, model and year, mileage, ZIP code, condition, title status and modifications; your first name, email address and mobile phone number; and whether you plan to sell. When you contact us: whatever you include in the message. When a dealer signs up: business name, contact name, email, phone and the states they buy in.

Information collected automatically. IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit and how you got here, and the time and page on which you gave any consent. We use cookies and similar technologies for sign-in sessions, analytics and to remember where you were in the form. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

Information from other sources. Vehicle data decoded from a VIN through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Publicly available recall and complaint data from NHTSA. Aggregate market data from public listings, which we never store at the level of an individual listing or seller.

2. How we use it

  • To compute and deliver your valuation and email it to you.
  • To introduce you to participating dealers, once you have checked the consent box.
  • To send you the result email and, once, a follow-up reminder. You can unsubscribe from any email.
  • To operate the dealer portal, including keeping a record of the consent you gave so a dealer can prove they were permitted to contact you.
  • To build anonymized, aggregated statistics — median values by model and year, typical mileage — that appear on our model pages. These cannot identify you.
  • To prevent abuse (rate limiting, spam detection) and to comply with law.

3. Who we share it with — and the sale of personal information

Dealers. If you check the consent box on the value form, we share your first name, email, phone number, ZIP code and your motorcycle's details (including VIN, if provided) with up to three participating motorcycle dealers who buy in your area, so they can contact you about buying your motorcycle. Dealers pay us for these introductions. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act and similar laws in other states, this is a “sale” and/or “sharing” of personal information. You can opt out at any time — see section 6. We do not sell or share the personal information of anyone we know to be under 16.

Service providers who process data on our behalf: hosting (Vercel), database and authentication (Supabase), email delivery (Resend), the AI model that computes valuations (Anthropic), and analytics. They are bound by contract to use your information only to provide services to us.

Legal. When required by law, subpoena or court order, or to protect the rights and safety of us, our users or others. If we are acquired or merge, personal information may transfer to the successor under this policy.

We do not share your contact details with anyone else, and we do not sell them to data brokers.

4. Calls and text messages (TCPA)

We do not send marketing text messages ourselves. If you check the consent box, participating dealers may call or text you, including with automated technology, at the number you provided, about selling your motorcycle. Consent is not a condition of purchase. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any text to opt out of that dealer's messages; email us at privacy@motorcyclevaluation.com to be removed from all dealer sharing. We keep a record of the exact consent text, the time, your IP address and the page, and we require dealers to honor opt-outs.

5. Retention

Valuation records and consent records are kept for as long as needed to provide the service and to demonstrate consent, typically five years. Dealer contact records are kept while the dealer relationship lasts and as required by law. Aggregated statistics are kept indefinitely because they cannot identify anyone. You can ask us to delete your information at any time (section 6).

6. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live (California, Colorado, Connecticut, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Virginia and a growing list of states), you have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we have collected about you and how we use and share it.
  • Delete your personal information, with limited exceptions (for example, a consent record we must keep to document a prior sharing).
  • Correct inaccurate information.
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. Use the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page, or email privacy@motorcyclevaluation.com. We also honor Global Privacy Control browser signals as an opt-out for the browser sending them.
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

To exercise a right, email privacy@motorcyclevaluation.com from the address you used with us, or use the form on the opt-out page. We will verify the request by confirming the email address (and, where needed, the phone number) on file, and respond within 45 days. You may use an authorized agent; we will ask the agent for proof of authorization. If we deny a request you may appeal by replying to our response.

California notice at collection. Categories collected: identifiers (name, email, phone, IP), commercial information (your motorcycle and its value), internet activity (pages visited), geolocation (ZIP code). Purposes: as described in section 2. Sold or shared: identifiers, commercial information and ZIP code, to motorcycle dealers, only with your consent. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes requiring a right to limit.

7. Email

Emails from us include our postal address and a working unsubscribe link, as required by the CAN-SPAM Act. Transactional messages (your valuation result, dealer portal notices) may still be sent after you unsubscribe from marketing.

8. Security

Contact details are stored separately from valuation data and are readable by a dealer only after the dealer has unlocked that lead in our portal, which is logged. We use encryption in transit and at rest, access controls and audit logs. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data we will notify you as the law requires.

9. Children

Our services are for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, email privacy@motorcyclevaluation.com and we will delete it.

10. Changes and contact

We will post changes here and update the date at the top; material changes will be flagged on the site. Questions and requests: privacy@motorcyclevaluation.com, or by mail to MotorcycleValuation.com · Dover, DE.
